Since its inception, FoCSP’s creative placemaking has drawn well over 105,000 estimated visitors to the park.

Since our first In the Square season in 2014, we have been offering free, compelling public events that both shares the creativity of our neighbors and creates more connectedness in our city. All events are arts-focused and most of the artists are local.

+ Since 2014, visitors have enjoyed 750+ events and activities in the Square, supporting the work of 1,758 artists and 61 arts organizations.

+ More than $172,915 has been directly invested in programming and amenities–money contributed by folks like you, foundations and local businesses.

+ Tens of thousands of hours have been invested by neighbors, just like you, who not only helped keep Congress Square Park a public asset, but then created a renewed gathering place that is welcoming to all.

Want to perform or host an event?

Each year, Congress Square Park invites the Greater Portland community to submit their concepts for events and activities through an Open Call, hosted in January. Everyone is invited, and all genres and ideas are welcome. In the Square artists, teachers, and organizers are selected through this process. We’re contacted throughout the year by additional collaborators, too, who host their own events.

To be notified of the next Open Call, sign up for our mailing list here.

All events are free to the public and artists are paid. Funding for each season comes from a mix of critical investments from foundations and granting organizations, businesses, and individuals like you!
