SUMMARY:Stage Frenzy: A 24-Hour Theater Marathon!
DESCRIPTION:Stage Frenzy is a 24 Hour Theatre Marathon where\, over the course of 24 hours\, theater artists of various backgrounds\, skill-sets\, and artistic processes will convene to write\, direct\, act\, design\, and perform a freshly written crop of original short plays. Stage Frenzy is an opportunity for theater makers to create theater in its purest form\, with little opportunity to over-think or second guess artistic decisions. It is also an opportunity to take risks. \nThis is the time and place for participating artists to try something new\, just for fun. To write that fantasy/scifi/horror play they’ve always wanted to write or that play that is half dance or includes puppets if that’s what they’ve wanted to explore. To direct in the round or immersively or with movement or puppetry or with bare minimum set. To act a role that’s completely off type in just 12 hours. To design on a shoestring budget with a small set and thrift stores at your convenience. To stage manage in 12 hours with other stage managers\, doing a whole month’s worth of rehearsal process in a split second. Following the performance\, both adults and kids are invited to participate in a Theater Play Workshop\, with games and fun exercises to bring your imagination to life. \nOUT OF THIS WORLD is an original production created by Celebration Barn Theater\, an immersive physical theater center in South Paris\, Maine that draws artists from around the world who are seeking to train and create their own works. The Barn’s mission is to inspire creativity and community by harnessing the power of live performance. \nDirector Fritz Grobe is a 5-time gold medalist with the International Juggler’s Association. He toured nationally with the theatrical circus Birdhouse Factory\, and is co-founder of Eepybird.com whose online videos have been viewed over 100 million times.

Trapped on the opposite side of death\, Orpheus fights to retrieve his bride\, making a deal that seals both their fates. Celebrated by the New York Times as a “weird and wonderful new play\,” playwright Sarah Ruhl explores the ancient Greek myth from the female perspective and with a fresh eye. \nPresented by Fenix Theatre\, a group of artists dedicated to staging the classics of theatre and literature. Their goal is to produce work ranging from the beautiful to the brutal\, that is always rooted in truth and lives where the creativity and commitment of the artist meets the imagination of the audience. \nThey value showcasing the passion and brilliance of local artists. They value the creation of dynamic\, inclusive\, low barrier theatre.
