DESCRIPTION:Take an hour out of your busy week to enjoy a free Tai Chi Chih/Qigong class. \nTai Chi Chih (pronounced tie chee cha) is like moving meditation. It consists of 19 movements and one posture. \nTai Chi Chih creates an awareness of and influences dimensions of our being that are not part of traditional exercise programs. It’s a non martial form of Tai Chi that increases the life force or vital energy that flows through us and all things in the universe. Various studies from Harvard Medical School and UCLA cite the many benefits of regular practice. \nClasses will be taught by Raymond Reid or Sara Leonard. \n  \nTai Chi Chih/Qigong classes will be taught in Congress Square Park in May through October\, excepting July. All classes will occur weekly on Wednesdays from 10 until 11 am. This class is an additional\, make-up class.

DESCRIPTION:Get ready to shake with Pure Barre Portland Owner\, Jamie Calenda\, at Pure Barre’s first ever outdoor pop up class! \nPure Barre is a high energy\, intense\, muscle-sculpting class comprised of low-impact exercises set to upbeat music. The class flows through a quick progression of small isometric movements designed to isolate your arms\, thighs\, seat\, and abs. Pure Barre is designed to work muscles to the point of fatigue and then stretch them out in order to achieve a stronger\, leaner physique. This class is for all ages and all fitness types. \nThe class is BYOM (bring your own mat) – all you need is your mat and some positive vibes and we will be ready to SHAKE. \n*Participants under the age of 18 will require guardian signature \n  \nAbout the instructor:\nJamie took her first Pure Barre class in Boston MA back in 2013 and there an epic love story began. The obsession as a client turned into passion when Jamie was selected to join the Pure Barre NYC Team in 2015 as an instructor. That heightened level of fulfillment felt by being a part of something that is so much more than just a workout is what led Jamie to walk away from her once “dream career” in Retail Buying and take the leap into entrepreneurship. Being able to bring the very first Pure Barre to the amazing state of Maine has been a complete honor and privilege for Jamie. Her class is high energy from start to finish and her goal is to make you legitimately want to murder her for what she is making you do… and for at least one person in the class to laugh out loud when she cracks a joke that really isn’t all that funny but she thinks is hilarious.

Colorful\, painted pianos will be available for all to play and enjoy in Monument Square\, Congress Square\, Longfellow Square and Bramhall Square throughout the month of July. \nJoin us for the big reveal of Pianos in the Squares on Friday\, June 29th from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. \n  \nSchedule of Ribbon Cuttings and Performances:\n11:00 AM – 11:30 AM Monument Square – Maine Academy of Modern Music (Rock)\n11:30 AM – 12:00 PM Congress Square – Joshua Hatfield (Pop Covers)\n12:00 PM – 12:30 PM Longfellow Square – Kafari (Jazz)\n12:30 PM – 1:00 PM Bramhall Square – Ophelia Hu Kinney (Chinese classical) \n  \nPianos will be placed in the squares starting on Friday\, June 29th. First being drawn to yoga as a form of physical exercise in 2011\, Kat quickly fell in love with the practice and how it transformed her life physically and emotionally through self healing. She aims to help students of all levels challenge and deepen their own practice while focusing on balancing the body\, mind and spirit both on and off the mat.​\n​\nKat has received over 700 hours of certified training ranging from advanced vinyasa\, yoga therapy for mental health\, aerial yoga\, and SUP yoga. She has studied with teachers in Maine\, Boston\, India\, and beyond.
