Friends of Congress Square Park (FoCSP) is the 501(c)(3) non-profit place manager of Congress Square Park, an urban public open space in downtown Portland. We seek to create an inclusive, welcoming, and vibrant community gathering place accessible to all through neighborhood engagement, programming, and the arts.
Friends of Congress Square Park (FoCSP) is the non-profit place manager of Congress Square Park. Established in 2013, FoCSP seeks to build community and to create a vibrant public gathering place through community-led creative placemaking. We advance our mission through three primary placemaking initiatives:
- Our In the Square series features free public events and activities from June through October highlighting the depth and vibrancy of Portland’s exceptional arts community.
- We provide free public amenities, including colorful café tables, Adirondack chairs, benches, string lights, shade umbrellas, WiFi, temporary public art and landscaping to make the park a welcoming daily destination.
- We engage neighbors in park maintenance and programming through our Park Steward program, which encourages a sense of shared ownership of the space and fosters neighborhood pride and resiliency.
