Discovering Abilities in the Garden: An Intergenerational Garden and Art Experience
July 12, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Calling garden and art lovers of all ages!
This July-August, three UNE graduate students are running a FREE intergenerational garden and art experience in the park. We’ll be digging in the garden, making art with natural materials, and exploring mindfulness while making a mark on the public space! Kids, elders, and all ages in between can engage in these horticultural therapy activities that beautify our park and build community.
Open to all ages and abilities. Come for one night, or all 4!
Week 1: July 12, 5:30-7:30PM
Come learn about Congress Square Park’s native plants through an all-ages scavenger hunt and make your mark by helping us paint our NEW raised garden bed!
Week 2: July 19, 5:30-7:30PM
Plant our new raised garden bed with seedlings and herbs propagated from the Reiche School Garden! Explore your senses through an herb-based mindfulness activity and yoga for gardeners.
Week 3: July 26, 5:30-7:30PM
Craft your very own nature mandala sun catcher using natural materials from the park. Learn about the Buddhist tradition of mandala-making and impermanence, all while expressing yourself with natural material.
Week 4: August 2, 5:30-7:30PM
Come make herb butter using herbs from our raised bed and do a craft that will allow everyone to leave their unique mark on Congress Square Park.
First Friday: August 3, 6-8PM
Come celebrate all that we’ve shared and created together and see your work displayed in the park for all to see!
